The terms used in the table above for type of climb are (best first):

  1. Onsite - climber places protection, no resting on gear, no previous knowledge of climb other than guide book.
  2. Redpoint - as per Onsite but the climber has worked the climb before, ie. practised the moves.
  3. Top rope - a clean ascent without resting on the rope.
  4. Sport Onsite - as per Onsite but on a bolted sports route.
  5. Sports Top Rope - as per Top Rope but on a sports route.
